Can Dogs Eat Pannekoek?

ModeratePlain Only, Small Amounts

A small piece of plain pannekoek (South African pancake) is generally low risk, but the traditional cinnamon-sugar topping and syrup mean portions should stay small.

Why

Pannekoek batter itself carries no toxicity concern once cooked. The traditional topping — a generous dusting of cinnamon sugar, sometimes with syrup — adds sugar content worth limiting, though the cinnamon amount used here is well within the small, non-toxic range on our cinnamon page.

How to serve it safely

  • A small piece, plain or lightly topped, is a reasonable occasional treat
  • Skip versions with generous syrup or condensed milk added
  • Not a food to share regularly given the sugar content
