The cooked meat from oxtail in small amounts is generally fine, but the bones themselves are a serious hazard and should never be given to a dog once cooked.
Oxtail is traditionally slow-cooked on the bone, and once cooked, those bones become brittle and prone to splintering — the same concern as any cooked bone (see our cooked bones page). The meat itself is also fairly high in fat given the cut, so portions should stay modest.
