Can Dogs Eat Fruit Juice?

ModerateSmall Amounts, Watch Sugar

A small amount of pure, plain fruit juice (no added sugar) is generally low risk, but the concentrated sugar and lack of fibre compared to whole fruit make it a poor regular choice.

Why

Fruit juice offers the sugar of the fruit it's made from without the fibre that helps moderate blood sugar impact in whole fruit form. It's not typically an emergency, but it's also not a beneficial treat, and grape juice specifically carries the same toxicity concern as whole grapes.

How to serve it safely

  • Avoid grape juice entirely — same toxicity concern as whole grapes or raisins
  • If offering any juice, choose 100% juice with no added sugar, in a small amount
  • Whole fruit (where safe) is generally a better choice than juice
